Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
- Colossians 2:7(NLT)
Summer is in full swing and everywhere the warmth of the sun is inspiring rapid growth. Flowers explode into bloom and the grass has to be cut twice a week! It's exciting to watch His creation come back to life! But then there are the storms: powerful, abrupt summer showers that appear on the horizon and don't stop coming until the streets are choked with water. These are at once inconvenient and impassable.
Sound familiar? As Believers, we may experience seasons of ease and blessing that change our idea of the status quo, so much so that when the difficulties of life follow on their heels, we become discouraged. It is then that we may forget previous progress with the Lord when the clouds roll in and dump out an abundance of trials.
But take heart, friends! The flood season is an opportunity to reexamine our roots and let them reach deeper into the unshakable truths of our sacred faith. It is a time to grow, and with God, nothing is impassable, even the inconveniences.
